Writer's Block: Six-Word Story

Hemingway was once challenged to write a story in only six words. His response? “For sale: baby shoes, never worn.” He is believed to have called it his greatest literary work ever. Can you write a story in six words?

Is it odd that I read Hemingway's 6 word story and teard up? I guess that's why he well-loved and world renowned.

Ice.... Cold.... Electricity!

OMG it feels so good to be back on Livejournal!

I live in southeast Oklahoma and we were hit with a huge ice storm late last Friday night, which knocked out the power for the whole damn town! My family actually lost power around five A.M. Saturday morning. The day of Melissa’s funeral. I have never attended a wake in near darkness before...it was surreal.

Well No electricity means no heat...for eight days! I have never been so cold in my life honestly! Not to mention bored out of my skull. You know reading by candlelight seems peaceful and romantic but when you are forced to do it for over a week it becomes rather bothersome...my eyes hurt. lol  Anyway my house just got power today like.... two hours ago. I have never been so happy to clean and do my laundry.

I feel so disconnected form the world. I think I need to watch about nineteen continuous hours of CNN just to catch up. lol  So have I miss a lot? Please let me know. Oh, to anyone who was affected by the storm, (Martha, Maggie) I hope you’re safe and warm and everything returns to normal for you as soon a possible.

I missed you guys!

*Huge hugs to the f-list*

Update....

There is not a subtle way to give information like this...

The man who allegedly Shot and killed Melissa and Robert was found.  Uhm...apparently he was looking for a place to hide after the shooting and entered a cell tower building. He tripped an alarm on the premises and the deputy investigating the disturbance notified SWAT members who confirmed that the man was inside. The standoff lasted until one this morning. Shortly after officers fired tear gas into the building the man opened the door to the building, but instead of surrendering shut it again and then fired a single gunshot. The officers believe he killed himself with the same gun he used to kill Melissa and Robert.

Uhm I just wanted to thank all of you who responded to my previous post.

I can’t express how mush your words mean to me.
I love you. You have all made this horrible tragedy easier to bear. Thank you!

I'm sorry to burden you guys with this....

But I uhm had to get this out there. Uhm.... an old friend of mine was killed today.

I woke at about 5:00 AM this morning to the sound of sirens, police and ambulances alike. The blaring noise lasted a good 10 minutes. I didn't know what to make of it only that it was pretty close to my house.  Later that morning my mother came home from the Hospital, where she works as a Phlebotomist.  She told me that everyone in her department was called to the E.R. because there were gunshot victims coming in that would need immediate blood work. Fifteen minutes latter the hospital got a call canceling the request because the victims had not made it.

Um twenty minutes ago my little brother told me that his class had been talking about the shooting all day. He asked if I new much about it. I said very little and asked him what he had heard. Apparently at that point the only thing anyone knew was the first name of one of the victims and a potential suspect. It turns out that my brother is friends with the alleged shooter older brother. (Small world right?).  Anyway uhm.... I got a little worried when I found out that everyone that was involved was my age...I might have went to school with these people. My little brother told me the name of one of the people that was killed. Lets just say it was familiar.

A couple of minutes ago I looked up the article on the papers web site...

We used to be really good friends when we were kids, sleepovers, birthday parties, nicknames and all that!
So uhm...My friend Melissa was shot and killed today. She was 19 years old.

Again I'm sorry to burden you guys with all this, but I had to get it out...so I could breath you know. Uhm...I'll post if and when there are any updates.
Thanks

Help! I'm starting a Lj Community.

Hello everyone *waves*

So I'm thinking of starting a community on Lj.  I have never run one before so I wanted to ask for your advice on a few matters.

I am considering starting a "lost and found" type community where members can post information to try to find old friends or family members they have lost contact with over the years.  I got the idea after loosing touch with a good friend of mine from high school.

Do you guys think this is a good idea?

Also I'm posting the Community Rules thus far behind the cut. I would greatly appreciate it if you guys looked over them and let me know what you thought. If they are appropriate, if I should add more, and above all else if this community would be safe.  I know most of the Internet predators frequent MySpace, but you can never be too careful.
